A young and passionate musician, Emily Winton is a Sydney based composer who has a strong fondness in writing ensemble, choral and film-based music. Raised as a classical musician, Emily has talents as an instrumentalist and vocalist as well as a composer; specialising in both trombone and voice. Her other talents include skills on Euphonium and Piano.
The composer’s musical voice is heavily influenced by cinematic music of the modern era. Taking inspiration from composers such as Marcus Warner and Thomas Newman, Emily enjoys producing electronic and cinematic based music for the screen. She often explores a minimalist style in her ensemble based compositions and takes a modern approach with her choral music, drawing from composers such as as Eric Whitacre and Dan Walker.
Currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Emily has worked under the guidance of well-known composers such as Damien Barbeler, Paul Stanhope, Daniel Rojas and has had her work played by various musicians, with her earliest performance being recorded and performed in 2019 by the Symphony Orchestra at Queenwood School in Mosman.
